VENDEE
Holiday
accommodation in the Vendee
The Vendee is
a wonderful area of France to visit. With over 300 kms of coast line and some
picturesque fishing village as well as the main seaside results of Les Sable
D'Olonne, La Tranche sur Mer and la Faute sur Mer this coastal region
with its gentle sloping sandy beaches
with sand dune and pine forests behind has long been a destination not only for
the French but many parts of the world.
The areas of marsh land known
as the Green Venice or Venice Vert are situated in the south of the
Vendee bordering the Deux Sevre and charente Maritine Departments. A
land of misty waterways and canals lacework the flat delter of the Sevre
noirtaise river, lined with trees this region is a treasure trove for painters
and nature lovers.
The third distinct region of the vendee is the Bocage,
noted for its numerous small fields, woods and lakes with small sleepy villages
it makes an ideal location for a holiday where you just want to unwind and relax
yet with a surprising amount to do and see should you wish.
Holding these
three areas together is the Praire, the Lucon to Fontenay-le-comte praire is the
second most productive agricultural region in France and with the old Roman
roads now forming the major high ways, access to the region has never been
easier.
